Pay for our Development Director starts at $55,000 per year.

 

With professional enthusiasm, you will help build support for GSAK’s services to thousands of girl members and adult volunteers. The Development Director is accountable for developing and managing the council's grant process, corporate donations, campaigns, and fundraising events to ensure GSAK’s financial and operational sustainability. To successfully accomplish this process, you will also be responsible for managing the council's fund development data, developing fundraising action plans, and supervising the development specialist. The Development Director serves Girl Scouts of Alaska (GSAK) in achieving our fund development goals.

 

The Development Director will foster a culture of philanthropy in the organization and advance philanthropy on behalf of Girl Scouts of Alaska. They are responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and oversight of fundraising, grants, and donor relations activities. Join a team that works in a fast-paced, detail and deadline oriented community.  You will be building professional relationships with Alaskans of varying generational, regional, ethnic, and socio-economic perspectives.

 

You are:

  • Committed to the policies and mission of the Girl Scout organization and willing to become a member of the Girl Scouts.
  • Able to adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) fundraising code of ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, board, and staff.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to organize and carry out a multifaceted workload.
  • Able to represent GSAK with donors and volunteers through speaking engagements, meetings, and written documents.
  • Able to develop volunteer networks and act as a liaison to community groups and funders. 

You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
  • Proven experience in successful fund raising or development with progressive responsibilities.
  • Understanding of the mission and vision of Girl Scouts and the ability to share this mission and vision with the general public.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred.
  • Access to automobile in working condition. Proof of meeting state requirements regarding auto licensing, driver’s license, and liability insurance.
  • Experience managing campaigns, grants, and multiple projects.
    • Experience with capital campaigns preferred.

 

You Will:

  • Work collaboratively and maintain clear and regular communications with the organization’s board of directors, Fund Development Committee, Communications Manager, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Mission Officer, and donor prospects.
  • Work closely with the CEO and board (committees, etc.) to garner community support to meet the strategic needs of Girl Scouts of Alaska.
  • Apply diverse and extensive experience in Philanthropy to every level of the development process.
  • Manually operate office equipment.
  • Lift and carry at least 35 lbs.
  • Complete an annual background check.
